Wade's House
Welcome to Wade's House – A Healing Place of Hope.
Located at 55 Bay Street and overlooking the spectacular Depoe Bay Harbor, Wade's House is the flagship project of the Wade J. Woodmark Foundation, a non-profit organization named for the late son of John & Talley Woodmark.
The first retreat home of its kind in the world, Wade's House offers a place for families who have lost children to come to the Oregon Coast, away from the indescribable challenges and heartache of their loss, to spend time together as a family – to grieve, to take solace in one another, and to begin to heal.
Designed by nationally acclaimed Pacific Northwest designer Sharon Capri, the house is provided at no cost to those who come and stay. Wade's House boasts a central décor theme which features both art and environment as aids to healing. The Pacific Ocean and the waters of the world's smallest navigable harbor both provide majestic backdrop views on the west and south sides of the home, while artwork donated from nationally and internationally renowned artists adorn both the interior and exterior, providing surroundings which are both beautiful and soothing. A meditation garden behind the home, offering a place for quiet reflection, is accessed by way of a walk formed of specially-carved stepping stones, each of which have been donated on behalf of a lost loved one, another project of the foundation.
Artists who wish to donate their work to this amazing project are appreciated, and the art utilized in a number of ways. Some finished pieces are used in the indoor and outdoor décor of the home, while others are sold or auctioned to fund the upkeep, maintenance and ongoing expansion of Wade's House - A Healing Place of Hope.
