05/12/2008 -- Taste the Winners At The Silver Heron GalleryThe Silver Heron Gallery's wine tasting salon in Depoe Bay will release some of the new seasonal selections and medal winners. Chateau Lorane Cuvee Pretiege received the bronze medal at the 2007 Northwest Wine Summit. This unusual blend is 60 percent Viognier and 40 Percent Sauvignon Blanc. Light and fruity with a dry finish, August Cellars 2003 Pinot noir was a silver medal winner at the 2007 Oregon State Fair and won a bronze medal at the 2008 Astoria Crab and Seafood Festival. This is a bigger than usual Pinot noir. On the nose is red current and Royal Ann cherries, leading into a big, bright red cherry palate with a nice finish. Bottled in 2004, it took two years of bottle aging for this wine to mature. LaVelle Vineyards 2006 Pinot Gris was the gold medal winner at the 2008 Astoria Crab and Seafood Festival and received the bronze medal at the 2008 Newport Seafood and Wine Festival. This wine has a fruit-forward nose with aromas of pear and melon. It exhibits rich varietal character with a finish that hints of tropical fruit. « Back to All News |
