Kim believes artists should paint what they know and love. She grew up on a farm in southcentral Kansas and now lives in northeast Kansas near the Flint Hills, so she naturally gravitates toward the simple beauty of the landscape. She uses outdoor studies and photographic material as a starting point, and then focuses on using light and color to convey the emotional reaction she has to her subject. Emotionally connecting to her audience is the ultimate goal.
