Gay Jensen's art has been widely exhibited, is in many private collections and has received numerous awards. Three recent awards are a "Merit Award" at the Northwest Collage Society Spring Exhibit in 2010, the "Jurors Award" at the Fall Show of the Northwest Collage Society in 2008 and "Best of Show Award" at the Best of the Northwest in 2007. An honor of which Gay is especially proud was being invited in 1993 to create an ornament for the official White House Christmas Tree in celebration of the Year of American Craft.

Gay has been a professional artist for over 30 years. Over her career she has taught classes on weaving and craft marketing, served as an art juror for numerous events, published articles in major weaving magazines, and participated in prestigious juried and invitational shows around the country.

After many years of specializing in creating woven artworks, Gay has recently added quilting and fabric collage to her repertoire. She has started experimenting with incorporating photography into her work and has discovered she loves the magic of manipulating digital images on the computer and printing them onto cloth.

Artist Statement: Sharing this planet with birds is a privilege and a delight. Birds teach me lessons, inspire my art and give me great joy. In the collection of artworks I've created for Silver Heron Gallery I've tried to capture the spirit, celebrate the elegance, explore the mystery and acknowledge the power of birds I've encountered.
